Art Project #3: Kasetsu’s Workshop
The Montblanc & Terrada Foundation [presently the Eastern Culture Foundation (ECF)]
“Let’s all write the Chinese character for ‘tree’ and create a forest!”
Using both our bodies and our minds let’s explore and enjoy the creative process! The theme is “the tree.” Big trees. Little trees. Trees swaying in the wind. By writing the Chinese character for tree the children created a forest. While experiencing first hand the formation and origin of the Chinese character for tree the children could understand the importance of feeling and expression. The characters are born from pictures! Ms. Kasetsu says she first encountered picture-characters as a child and her love affair with them has continued since then. It was this Ms. Kasetsu and the origin and joy of her creations that was experienced by all in attendance.
