For three days monks will gather from all over the world to pray for world peace. The 2019 World Peace Gathering will be held at the sacred mountain temple, Mt. Koya (高野山). This sacred place was founded 1,200 years ago by Kukai (the famous Japanese monk, poet, artist, and founder of the Shingon school of Buddhism), known posthumously as Kobo Taishi.
