Announcement of "Art Law Seminar" Sponsored by: Kobayashi & Yugeta Law Office; Startbahn Co., Ltd.; Asia Art & Legal Practice Team; and One Asia Lawyers Asia Art & Legal Practice Team

What legal rights do artists have concerning participation in exhibitions at art museums? Artists own the copyrights of their works but there may be few artists who can confidently talk about the specifics of a copyright. That’s quite understandable as copyright laws are quite complicated and even experts often disagree. Furthermore, when considering licensing for a work of art and related matters, what points should an artist keep in mind when he/she signs a contract with a gallery?

This seminar will be co-sponsored by Attorney Kodai Kimura (a lawyer who is in charge of the serialization "Art Law" in the web version of Art Notebook), One Asia Lawyers Art Law Practice Team, and Startbahn, Inc. They will discuss artists’ rights and contracts and lecture on the basic knowledge all artists should possess.

Date and Time: October 14 (Wednesday), 2020; 6pm to 8pm, Japan Time
Speaker: Kodai Kimura (Kobayashi & Yugeta Law Office)
    Taihei SHII (Startbahn, Inc.)
